ILLUMINATING HISTORICAL CITY CENTERS
By employing our Park line of luminaires, which were designed for architecturally demanding lighting applications, we provided illumination to the old market square of the city of Šoštanj.
Šoštanj has a long and rich history. Its first mentions date all the way back to the 12th century. Two centuries later it was given its market rights, and, just a few years before the outbreak of the first world war, it was formally declared a city. Today, owing to the key role it plays in the Slovenian energy system with its power plant, it is also known as the “City of light”.
Our Park line models illuminate Šoštanj’s well preserved and compact architectural market square, which is a registered cultural heritage site that points to its lively economic development in the 19th century. Carefully selected mast configurations and diverse light outputs ensure optimal and even illumination of surface areas which required a mix of street and urban lighting approaches.
In addition to providing environmentally compliant and energy efficient LED lighting, our Park luminaires also subtly integrate themselves within the visual identity of the old city square and complement it esthetically with their clean lines and a unified appearance achieved through the integration of the mast and lighting elements into a single monolithic unit. Through the comprehensive minimalism of its shape, our Park line functions as an effective architectural lighting element in city centers which is equally at home in modern and historical urban environments.
