Implementing the future of lighting
We are helping to lay the foundations of tomorrow's intelligent urban areas by employing our smart lighting system in the pilot project of the University of Maribor’s Center for smart cities and communities (UM:CPMS).
Zone Tezno, once synonymous with the famous Maribor Automobile Factory (TAM), is today the center of high-tech manufacturing and service companies. Furthermore, in cooperation with UM:CPMS, it has also transformed itself into a living laboratory, a pilot ecosystem for testing smart technologies. The project will encompass operational testing of a multitude of interconnected elements: from smart waste collection, implementation of smart water and electricity meters, smart dynamic parking and sustainable e-mobility, as well as advanced environmental sensorics and smart lighting – which is where we come in with our own innovative product.
Since 2018, we have been intensively developing, together with our partner Impedanca and with the financial support from the European Regional Development Fund, a smart urban LED luminaire which is now in the final phases of development. The luminaire will distinguish itself from the competition by the high level of integration and miniaturization of its various sensory components which will ensure smooth positioning in urban environments, the ability to automatically create alarms and reports, as well as the capacity to respond to environmental parameters and events.
Fifteen of our advanced luminaires, which together form a smart illumination system, have been installed in Zone Tezno. The illumination system connects to the central communication network of the pilot project within which it functions as a smart receptor that allows the system to “feel” its surroundings. It ensures – in real-time and at micro locations – precise measurements of light, temperature, and moisture levels, the detection of solid particles, as well as the monitoring of traffic dynamics which, in connection with advanced dimming systems and LED technology, result in a high level of energy efficiency, together with optimal illumination of public spaces.
