JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF LIGHT
Nighttime pedestrian safety and comfort require not only adequate illumination, but also innovative lighting solutions that ensure dynamic and appropriate lighting when needed.
A good example on how to achieve optimal illumination in areas where natural habitat preservation is important, is the replacement of the outdated, inefficient and environmentally unfriendly lighting at Lake Bled with our technically advanced Plain III urban luminaires. Their high energy efficiency contributes to the lowering of power consumption, while their minimalistic shape subtly enhances the esthetics of the local environment, thereby contributing to the experience of tourists and local residents.
Additionally, as a part of the Night Light pilot project (Interreg Europe) which addresses the problem of light pollution in connection with the sustainable development of regional areas, our luminaires were further refined with motion control sensors made by lixtec. With their movement detection capabilities, these sensors exert responsive control of the luminaires’ light output, thus ensuring dynamic and appropriate lighting levels, as they are needed relative to the flow of pedestrians. This dynamic is especially important for preserving the sensitive natural environment, its biodiversity and emphasizing the natural features of the landscape.
Bled’s nature and landscape are a well-known Slovenian tourist gem. A popular tourist destination Bled is the proud golden sign bearer of the Slovenia Green Destination, awarded by the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism, and one of the protected natural regional areas. Projects, such as the Night Light, are essential in their contribution towards environmental protection and achieving the status of "dark night areas", which represent an opportunity for further development of sustainable tourism and development of new eco-tourism services.
These kinds of projects, where modern technology and natural conservation are integrated in a single solution, represent important steps in the direction of strengthening environmental protection by reducing light pollution, as well as increasing sustainability of internationally popular local environments, such as Lake Bled.
